1) Real Estate License

Must have a real estate license or be willing to get a real estate license. 

2) Excellent Communication Skills

A real estate transaction can be a stressful process for a home seller or home buyer.  Dealing with an agent who is a great communicator is important.  It’s essential that agents stay in constant contact with their clients and customers.

3) Client Motivated

Buying and selling houses can be stressful and it’s important for the agent to make sure that the client is feeling supported and happy.  Listening is essential to a good client/agent relationship.  A good agent is aware of their clients time frame, their wants and needs, and their preferred method of communication.  When it comes to real estate: you’re the expert.  A successful agent has the ability to guide and mentor their clients through the real estate process. 

4) Pro-Active

A good agent should be proactively calling potential buyers, communicating with existing customers and constantly chasing new leads.  In real estate, the amount of hard work that an agent performs is simultaneously rewarded with closings and success. 

5) Professionalism

It's best to always be courteous, polite and professional in all realms of business, especially in the real estate industry.  Always be on time.  A professional appearance is extremely important, as some clients tend to hire agents based on appearance and reputation.
